RENTON -- Logan Payne is going on injured reserve because of a torn knee ligament and Seneca Wallace is out up to a month with a calf injury. They become the fifth and sixth Seahawks wide receivers injured this season. Payne is the third lost for the season, joining Nate Burleson and Ben Obomanu.
Payne started Sunday's overtime loss to San Francisco but was hit on his right knee as he planted it on his only catch in the first quarter. Coach Mike Holmgren said the 2007 practice squad player has an injury to his medial collateral ligament.
Wallace was a big part of Sunday's game plan as an emergency fill-in receiver. Then the backup quarterback pulled his left calf during pregame warmups. He was on crutches in the locker room Monday.
Holmgren says the team will be looking to sign or possibly trade for more receivers before Sunday's game against the also-winless St. Louis Rams.
"We have to go looking for some people. That's the number one order of the day," Holmgren said Monday afternoon before heading into a personnel meeting with team executives.
He said adding former Seahawk Koren Robinson, currently unsigned, remains a possibility. Last week Holmgren said he'd welcome bringing back Seattle's No. 1 draft pick in 2001, whom the team released after the 2004 season and 52 starts following problems with alcohol.
"The value is, he's played here," Holmgren said, knowing that getting a free agent to contribute significantly right away is difficult because most don't know Seattle's offense.
Cornerback Kelly Jennings has a broken rib but will play against the Rams.
